All Elite Wrestling comes our way from the James L Knight Center in Miami. Last week, The Young Buck’s new facial hair did not earn them a victory over Penta & Kingston. Ethan Page hyped up his coffin match against Darby Allin by once again threatening murder. Jungle Boy became the first wrestler in the AEW locker room to get his fiftieth win. The Dark Order soft challenged Kenny Omega on behalf of their bestie Adam Page. Pleasing both God and his hot wife, Miro decimated Brian Pillman, Jr. Team Taz made Brian Cage versus Ricky Starks for the FTW championship official. Britt Baker tapped out Vickie Guerrero but still went through a table courtesy of Nyla Rose, and MJF narrowly defeated Sammy Guevara in the main event.
This Week’s Headliner:
The Young Bucks may have debuted a new, frankly perfect, look last week, but they were still unable to defeat their nemeses Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero M. Kingston is the living embodiment of the phrase “if you want to get rid of me, you’ll have to kill me” as he has relentlessly gone after The Bucks since they helped to take out his other bestie Jon Moxley.
Tonight’s match stipulation is both a good thing and a bad thing for the Bucks. On the one hand, all their cheating is legal. On the other, Eddie and Penta get to let loose, and, boy, if those two aren’t two, you want to be held back by rules, then I don’t know who is. The Bucks will have to pull out all the stops to keep their championships tonight because Eddie Kingston is putting the STREET in street fight.
The Title Scene:
World Champion Kenny Omega has a lot to think about. He has a potential challenger in Christian Cage, who has been breathing down his neck since his debut – not to mention several locker rooms full of guys who crave gold – but the real threat, and the match the AEW universe is salivating for is, Omega versus Page for the AEW World Championship! Now, Page hasn’t formally challenged Omega (he’s not scared you guys!), but his Dark Order pals are in his corner pushing him to do it. That, plus his record in AEW, makes him not only a viable candidate but a logical one. Unfortunately for Kenny. They may have had a falling out, but if anyone knows Kenny’s quirks in and out of the ring in AEW, it’s his former tag partner, Hangman Adam Page.
Don’t expect a formal challenge or declaration tonight, but it’s safe to bet that some more ingredients will be added to this stew. It’s been a long road to get Adam Hangman Page back into the championship picture, but it’s coming, and (cow)boy, it’s going to be great!
Technically the Women’s Champion Britt Baker, DMD, and her partner Rebel won their tag match against Vickie Guerrero and Nyla Rose last week…but Nyla Rose also put Britt through a table so it’s safe to say that this feud is just getting started.
Miro has been on a warrior’s crusade since winning TNT Championship. He’s beaten everyone who has had the guts to challenge him. Tonight, I suspect nothing changes, and God gets another sacrifice.
Other things to keep an eye on:
-Cody & QT Marshall look to settle things in a strap match. Shockingly this story is still happening. Can I have a strap too? That way I can flagellate myself while this happens to feel something – ANYTHING – about this match.
-MJF and Chris Jericho face-off (again!) while their stable bros take on each other in a trios match. Part of me wants to complain that we’re still doing this, but hey, at least they’re playing musical chairs and mixing up the matches now!
-Andrade El Idolo interrupted Matt Sydal’s match two weeks ago to talk to the AEW crowd. Rudely Matt Sydal interrupted him right back and continued to wrestle. Tonight Andrade makes his in-ring debut against Matt….something? What’s his name again? Eh, it doesn’t matter anyway. Andrade is going to win.
-Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander is a mixed tag match made in heaven. The Blade & The Bunny are demons straight from hell. This one should be fun.
Tune into AEW on TNT at 8pm ET to see how all this plays out.
