According to SEScoops.com, both Daga and Tessa Blanchard are expected to sign with AEW. The real life couple have both been away from mainstream American promotions for several months, with Daga’s most prominent American exposure coming during a run with Impact Wrestling. Blanchard is also best known for her time with Impact Wrestling, where she was the first woman to hold the company’s World Title.
Blanchard has been a sought after free agent since leaving Impact Wrestling. She left the company while still the World Champion, officially being stripped of the title when she refused to send in promos to set up a title match where she would lose the championship. Blanchard has only wrestled two matches since leaving Impact Wrestling last spring, with her most recent match taking place in September.
Opinion: This is the kind of signing that makes a good bit of sense, as it has become fairly clear that Blanchard is not going to go anywhere without Daga. The fact that Daga is a rather talented wrestler in his own right makes that a much easier move to make than it could be otherwise. At the same time though, signing Blanchard might complicate things a bit more in AEW.
It is true that Blanchard is one of the best female wrestlers in the world, but AEW already has quite a stacked women’s division. Blanchard would jump straight to the top of that list, but the division already has quite a few names included. There is nothing wrong with signing a huge name, though it might be a little bit tricky to make everyone fit with someone new added.
