According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the May 26 edition of AEW Dynamite will be preempted due to the NBA Playoffs. Instead, the show will air on Friday May 28 at 10pm EST. This will put the show on directly after that night’s edition of SmackDown and mark the first time that the show has aired on a Friday night. This show will be the final episode before Double Or Nothing on May 30.
In addition, the June 2 edition of Dynamite will be preempted as well, though it is not clear when the show will be airing. The show’s air date will depend on which NBA Playoff game airs on TNT, meaning the show could air on either Friday June 3 or Saturday June 4. The date of the show airing will also change the date for tapings of future editions of both Dark and Dark Elevation.
Opinion: I’m curious to see how this is going to go as there are different options to pick from here. If nothing else, it will make for one heck of a big Friday night with four straight hours of wrestling. That is the kind of thing that you do not get very often and it will be nice to not have to watch both shows at the same time like in the days of the Wednesday night wars.
At the same time, this might be a bit of a preview for the potential upcoming change over due to the NHL games changing the AEW schedule. While we still do not know when the games will be taking place, it is rather possible that AEW Dynamite is going to be moving to another night in the future. That could make for some interesting situations and I’m curious to see how it plays out.
What will this mean for AEW? Where should the show move if it has to? Let us know in the comments below.
