Back in 2018, WWE entered into a ten year deal with Saudi Arabia for a series of paid shows in the country. The shows have been rather controversial to say the least, mainly due to the country’s issues with human rights. WWE has not received the best coverage as a result but the amount of money they are making seems to make up for it. We might be seeing some of that bad coverage coming back again though.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, two sources said that a Saudi Arabia event is on the table by the end of the year. WWE is scheduled to run two events in the country every year but the Coronavirus pandemic prevented last year’s events from taking place. There is no word on when the show would take place this year. The most recent event, Super Showdown 2020, took place in February 2020.
Two WWE sources indicate that an event in Saudi Arabia prior to the end of 2021 is very much on the table.
