Newcomer McKenzie showed up on last week’s edition of NXT UK to challenge the NXT UK Women’s Champion During the challenge, Isla Dawn attacked McKenzie and Satomura made the save, setting up tonight’s match.
The match kicked off, with McKenzie and Dawn exchanging blows. After a brief grapple, the two tagged out, allowing the champ and the Final Boss to enter the ring. Ray got the better of Satomura, and the two Scots lay a beatdown on the legend. The advantage didn’t last long, and Satomura fired back with her signature kicks taking Dawn out.
McKenzie and Ray were next in and had a nice exchange, which McKenzie came out on top. Dawn interfered but ate a German suplex for her efforts. McKenzie flattened Ray with a diving spear for the two count before Dawn blindsided Satomura on the outside. This allowed the heels to gain control of the match. Dawn hit McKenzie with a great Saito suplex for a near fall.Satomura and Ray back in for another great exchange of stiff kicks and heavy strikes. Ray hit the Gory Bomb, but McKenzie made the save. This brought Dawn in, who got suplexed again before Ray smashed her with a superkick. McKenzie answered by dropping Ray on her head with a German suplex on the outside of the ring. Back in the ring, McKenzie counters a suplex attempt into a small package to pin Dawn for her return victory in the promotion.
After the match, Aoife Valkyrie appeared in the aisle and laid a solitary feather on the floor, seemingly challenging Satomura. This was a great match with some fast and furious sequences. It was Isla Dawn’s best showing in months, while Emilia McKenzie looked excellent and could be the one who topples Kay Lee Ray from the top in the future. Plus it seems as though Meiko Satomura and Aoife Valkyrie are on a collision course.
