The Great Khali becomes the first Indian WWE Superstar to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class.
The Great Khali is the newest inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2021. WWE recently announced the news through its WWE India Instagram page, and this has filled the WWE fans in India with a smile on their face and pride in their hearts.
Khali is a former World Heavyweight Champion, and ever since he made his debut on the 7th April 2006 of SmackDown, “The Punjabi Nightmare” grew leaps and bounds inside the squared circle. He started his career with a staredown and a chop on The Phenom and went on to open his wrestling school in India, where he trains aspiring wrestlers.
The talented superstar got this news through his former manager and member of the WWE creative team, Ranjin Singh. While Khali started his WWE career with Daivari as his manager, he ended it with Singh. Khali was overjoyed with emotions when he received the news and couldn’t say much, but his wife and daughter were elated to hear the news of his induction.
Khali is the first Indian WWE superstar to be inducted into this elite class. “The Punjabi Playboy” didn’t get quality storylines during the latter part of his career and turned into a comical figure. He was in funny segments alongside other superstars, but despite these roles, the soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer worked his way to ensure that he puts smiles on fans’ faces.
Khali left the WWE in 2014, but he returned in 2017 to help then-WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in a Punjabi Prison match against Randy Orton. The superstar was also a part of the Greatest Royal Rumble but has stayed off of WWE programming ever since. He worked in various Indian movies and has featured in television ads during his time off from a wrestling ring.
His wrestling academy helped future wrestling aspirants nurture their talent. It is the efforts put forth by Khali that WWE selected Kavita Devi, Saurabh Gujjar, and other WWE Performance Center trainees and tryouts.
