Marty “The Moth” Martinez was on top of the world at the end of 2018. One of the few men to hold the Lucha Underground Championship, he looked to be in a position to capitalize on that momentum when the promotion folded amid accusations of mistreatment of talent.

However, the former champion did not make the jump to a different promotion following Lucha Underground’s shutdown and has only wrestled once since the promotion closed its doors in 2018. That all seems like it is about to change.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Martinez, whose real name is Martin Casaus, commented on his absence from the ring, saying that it stemmed from an injury he suffered during a workout that was live-streamed on his Twitch channel.

“In Feb 2019, I herniated my L4 & L5 in my spine while doing a workout stream. ( Not lifting, I herniated them while hugging my pup on stream. Yes, I got injured hugging my adorable dog. Docs said I needed surgery. I opted for stem cells instead. I’ve spent the last 2 years relearning how to walk without pain from sciatica & muscle tension. I had to relearn how to run on the treadmill. Spent more time on rehab than heavy weights. My stream watched the struggle. I learned that progress is just as important as results. I had already beat sleep apnea, learned to manage my Lyme disease, & I spent way too much time fighting to be healthy that there was not a chance in hell I wasn’t chasing my dream with it.”

He also announced that he is now healthy and has since returned to the ring training at the Nightmare Factory in Georgia, the wrestling school run by QT Marshall and Cody Rhodes.

He concluded the post by offering a website link for bookings. So the question remains: Will The Moth prove to be All Elite?
