Pete Dunne’s NXT United Kingdom championship reign last for almost two years. That’s a record that will last… well, it only lasted for the 686 days the guy who beat him for the belt back in April of 2019 has held it.
Congratulations to new record holder WALTER!
Imperium’s Ring General beat Dunne for the title back at TakeOver: New York during WrestleMania 35 weekend. And there really doesn’t seem like there’s an end in sight for his run. Talented younger wrestlers like Tyler Bate or Ilja Dragonuv delivered classic matches with WALTER, but haven’t been able to get the job done. Whoever Triple H and team eventually do pick to upset the Austrian will be getting a hell of a rub.
The brand’s Women’s champion set the record for the longest reign in the history of that title a long time ago. Thanks in part to the pandemic shutting down NXT UK for several months last year, Kay Lee Ray has held the NXT UK Women’s title for 538 days.
Ray’s days may be numbers, however. WWE’s presented their signing of Meiko Satomura as a response to the Scot clearing out NXT UK’s women’s division. And they aren’t wasting any time giving the Japanese legend her shot.
Will one historic reign end on Mar. 4? Will WALTER’s ever end?
