After Monday Night Raw last week, I wondered why Alexa Bliss would enter the Royal Rumble match for the right to challenge Asuka for the Raw women’s championship at WrestleMania 37 when she defeated the champion clean in the main event. Why wouldn’t she simply challenge for the title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view?
As it turns out, she may not need either.
Indeed, WWE has announced that Bliss will wrestle Asuka for the Raw women’s championship on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
As mentioned, Bliss defeated Asuka on last week’s episode and that may be underselling how it went down. It was a dominant victory, and one played up as a “terrifying transformation” by the creative team at WWE. Essentially, we’re being led to believe she’s been possessed by Bray Wyatt. Maybe.
Either way, it wouldn’t be a shock to see a title change here. And, hey, if Bliss loses, she’s still in the Royal Rumble!
