Jay White is the main event of night two, heading into a moment that can set off an exceptional run as double champion in New Japan.

Jay White is a special character that more professional wrestling fans should know about. His recent work while a part of New Japan is among some of the best in the industry. He has been to the top and has another opportunity to reach that point with Wrestle Kingdom 15 a few days away. When the two-day show is over it should mark the start of a true run for Jay White as the face of NJPW.

White is sitting nicely heading into Wrestle Kingdom 15. He is firmly in the main event of night two, waiting for either Tetsuya Naito or Kota Ibushi to come out of night one as the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental champion. This is one of the pinnacles of wrestling, the main event for one of the most important annual shows in the industry. Wrestling fans will be talking about this event, and specifically this match because it will set the stage for NJPW in 2021. This is going to be a crowning moment for the person that raises both titles above their head.

What is interesting about Jay White is that he is already won both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles. Plus, he is also won the promotions United States title. But those reigns did not feel “special,” as none of them elevated White to main event status. Yes, he had those titles, but he was not the central focal point of important storylines and moments. This current run is different in which all of White’s recent actions, matches, and promos feel important. The booking around his character feels more important today than it did back in 2019 or 2018.

One thing that is not talked about a lot during this run is how Jay White has helped elevate the Bullet Club back to a position of prominence. When Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks left to establish All Elite Wrestling, their presence as a part of the BC left a huge void in that faction. But look now and that group has been rebuilt as a central focus point across multiple angles in the promotion. El Phantasmo won the Super J Cup and can challenge for the Junior Heavyweight title on night two; against another BC member in Taiji Ishimori. KENTA holds the briefcase to challenge for the United States title. And then there’s Jay White, a few steps away from standing atop the mountain as a double champion.

Being the main event for night two of Wrestle Kingdom is a moment that the wrestling industry will watch with bated breath. Jay White stands ready to face whoever wins on night one, but this is an opportunity for him to become the real main event for NJPW and set off what can be a career-defining run.
