Ranking The Top Five Tag Teams Of 2020

Who was the best tag team of the year? We are here to figure out who were the five best tag teams in 2020 in all of wrestling.

Various wrestling companies have been putting out great tag team matches in 2020. There were so many teams that stood out this year and had moments that made them stand out. This could have easily been a list of the top ten teams of the year, but we are narrowing it down to the top five.

These five teams were just a step ahead of the rest of the competition. We saw major teams jump ship and other teams return to their home promotions. All five teams that made this list won tag team gold this year and for rightful reasons. Without further due, here are the top five tag teams of 2020.

5. Motor City Machine Guns

While they haven’t been a team for most of the year, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been the standard of tag team wrestling since returning to Impact Wrestling. Fans were elated when the Motor City Machine Guns returned at Slammiversary. They wasted no time in defeating The North and ending their historic 380-day title reign.

We are on the verge of seeing the Motor City Machine Guns take place in a historic match. It was announced on Impact that Shelley and Sabin will team up with Impact World Champion Rich Swann to face the reunited Bullet Club. They will face the team of Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at Hard To Kill.

These two aren’t slowing down a bit as a team. I am expecting to see much more of the team in 2021. They are set to start off the year in a huge way and they could ride out the wave through the entire year. We have an exciting year ahead of us for pro-wrestling and we could see great dream matches including these two men.

4. FTR/The Revival

Starting out the year, it was only a fan’s dream that we would see The Revival in All Elite Wrestling. They started out the year still fighting to prove themselves as one of the greatest teams in the world in WWE. Suddenly everything changed in April, it was announced that The Revival had been released from their WWE contract.

Just a month later, now repackaged as FTR, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler arrived in AEW and immediately caused a shift in the company. After years of dreaming and internet feuding, we were on the verge of seeing The Young Bucks and FTR collide. In September, FTR defeated Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page to become the AEW Tag Team Champions.

When FTR and The Young Bucks finally collided at Full Gear, the two teams stole the show in a near half-hour battle. The Young Bucks had FTR’s number on this night, but you can expect that FTR will look to get their revenge soon enough. This year, FTR proved that they are as good as they said they have been.
